Effective January 7th, 2017, Dell EMC will End-of-Life (EOL) the RecoverPoint Generation 5 (Gen5) appliance. End of service life (EOSL) is scheduled for 01/07/2020. Customers can take advantage of the latest Gen6 hardware with 60% greater processing power and an optional 10GbE communication module.

Changes have already been made in the RecoverPoint ordering path in MyQuotes to remove the Gen5 option by 01/07/2017.


With close to 30,000 units deployed worldwide, Dell EMC RecoverPoint is the leading data protection and disaster recovery solution. In April 2016, Dell EMC introduced the latest Gen 6 hardware.

The new Gen 6 hardware has rapidly increased in volume since its introduction and now accounts for more than 90% of RecoverPoint appliance shipments. This brings us to the logical step of discontinuing the old Gen 5 hardware. Please refer to the Gen 6 FAQ document for more information.

Service and Support

Dell EMC Global Services will provide 3 years of software support to current Gen 5 customers starting on the EOL date, which ends January 7th, 2020.

Current Gen 5 customers can easily upgrade to Gen 6 hardware. The RecoverPoint ordering path in MyQuotes allows you to order upgrades to Gen 6 hardware.
